Rosemary Herbert is the Edgar Award-nominated editor of The Oxford Companion to Crime & Mystery Writing and a writer in the crime and mystery genre. She has published eight books and numerous articles, interviews, prefaces, and short stories in magazines, journals, and anthologies. She is also a poet whose chapbook Sisters in Time is forthcoming in 2026.

Rosemary Herbert's opening scene for a thriller, "A Man in the House," was selected by Scottish crime-writing luminary Val McDermid for inclusion in CrimeBits2: 100 Opening Gambits for Great Thrillers & Linked Mystery Puzzles. The book is forthcoming from Black Spring Press in the UK in August 2025, and in the US in November 2025.
